Balance and Motion Therapy

One of three people 65 years of age and older falls each year. The Lewis Aquatic Center Balance and Motion Therapy is designed to prevent falls and improve mobility. The program is for persons who have experienced stroke or issues with balance, mobility or dizziness stemming from disorders or conditions such as diabetes.

As with other therapies, you must have a physician’s prescription to take part in the program.

The program begins with a comprehensive, one-hour balance evaluation with a licensed physical therapist, including an assessment of balance, vision, dizziness and strength as well as walking and movement tasks. Following the evaluation, an individualized program is designed to meet the client’s specific needs with progressively challenging balance and strengthening activities. There is monthly reassessment, and results of each meeting are summarized and made available to the participant and physician.

Take the Balance Self-Test to see if you are a candidate for Balance and Motion Therapy.
