The Aquatic Physical Therapy Visit
Referrals
You must have a physician’s referral for therapy. If required by your insurer, please obtain pre-certification before scheduling your initial appointment.
For your convenience, there is a prescription form available on this site.
Once you have a referral or authorization, you can schedule an appointment by calling 216.595.7345.
We will provide transportation free of charge within our service area.
To-Dos
- Bring a swim suit and water shoes or other appropriate aquatic attire.
- Wear or bring dry clothing.
- Leave valuables at home.
- Wash off any body lotion before getting into the pool.
- Inform your therapist of any unique issues, such as heart problems, fear of the water, or any other health condition you may have.
- Be positive – you WILL feel better!
An Aquatic Therapy Session
- Your initial visit will include a physical therapy evaluation.
- You do NOT have to be able to swim to participate in aquatic physical therapy.
- You will meet with an aquatic physical therapist in a one-on-one setting.
- Each therapy visit is unique and designed especially for you.
- Reassessments occur on an ongoing basis to ensure achievement of your goals.
- A visit can be as short at 30 minutes or as long as one hour.
- Your treatment plan may also include land-based therapy.
- When your therapy is complete, you will receive a discharge plan so that you can continue with a fitness and wellness program.
